ive been thinking about the use of color and perspective in The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn't a Guy At All
it's a good manga, that's all, and the use of only a single color gives a very special feeling to it. shoutouts to these awkward gay kids, i wish them the very best.
Arai Sumiko is one of the artists like Takemiya Jin, Amano Shuninta, Nishi Uko, Sal Jiang, Yasaka Shuu, Nakatani Nio, and Itsuki Kuro (this isn't a remotely exhaustive list, just a number of authors who come to mind as of a similar quality) whose work feels deeply reflective of the queer community they're part of. A lot of yuri manga can blend into each other as a series of bland schoolgirl tropes but these authors are all a little more willing to make their stories about characters whose idiosyncracies get to shine and thus whose stories feel most fundamentally human to me.
